The lab of Dr. Nicolás Unsain studies the actin/spectrin cytoskeleton of both normal and pathological axons, trying to understand its importance in the formation, maintenance and destruction of these neuronal extensions. To do so, he uses state-of-the-art microscopy, diverse molecular biology and biochemical techniques, bioinformatics and a wide range of animal models ranging from rodents, the fruit fly and human stem cell-derived neurons.
