MARIANA BOLLO

Independent Researcher at CONICET

Associate Professor at IUCBC, Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Córdoba.

Dr. Mariana Bollo’s laboratory is focused on understanding the cellular response triggered by Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) stress. Specifically, her research is linked to the role of calcium signaling in restoring the normal function of the organelle. Her interest extends beyond exploring the fundamental aspects of this cellular response; she also investigates its connection to pathological processes through two primary lines of research:

  • Mechanisms of protection once stress is induced in astrocytes, serving as a model for cerebral ischemia.
  • Implications of Endoplasmic Reticulum stress activation in the mechanism of cell death in a model of neurodegenerative gangliosidosis (Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff diseases).
