The laboratory led by Dr. Gabriela Paglini has two main lines of research. One of them is dedicated to understanding plasticity phenomena that occur in the brain, associated both with exposure to psychostimulant drugs, as well as with learning processes, on the hypothesis that the same cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in learning and memory are usurped by drugs of abuse. The other line of research studies the mechanisms responsible for one of the neurobiological syndromes with the highest prevalence in school-age children and adolescents, which is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) through the behavioral and neurochemical characterization of a genetically modified mouse that recapitulates the clinical characteristics of this disorder.
