ANDREA RÓPOLO

Independent Researcher at CONICET.
Assistant Professor, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, National University of Córdoba.

Dr. Rópolo is studying how post-translational modifications of proteins regulate basic processes involved in the survival of the parasite Giardia lamblia. Specifically, she is investigating the extent to which both histone methylation and acetylation regulate the encystation process. The techniques employed include cellular and molecular biology as well as biochemical methods. The findings from characterizing these mechanisms may lead to the development of new chemotherapeutic agents to achieve control over this parasitic infection.
